‘So Xsighted’ is a border morris dance side recently formed in Great Malvern, Worcestershire. We are a group of visually impaired and blind people who get together in a local village hall once a week to practice the dances and congregate in the pub next door afterwards, for important consultation.
We use white sticks in our performances and have adapted the dances slightly to our needs. Our aim is to have fun, keep fit, create more awareness in the community about vision loss and break misconceptions, as well as keeping an old English tradition alive, which we feel very strongly about !
We have a group of sighted musicians who are amazing and help us with our stepping and keeping in time to the beat which is tremendously important with vision loss.
