Open Morris Member Sides

Beacon Morris originally existed in the early 1990s and was recently revived as an occasional team by the original leader Mike Salter. The team danced out on 1st Jan 2023 and 1st Jan 2024, and also over a four day period in December 2023, costume then being ragshirts.

As a regular side from Jan 2024 inwards Beacon mostly did dances based on those from our locality. However in the autumn of 2024  the decision was made to do a more varied repertoire, at least during the summer months, mainly to differentiate ourselves from the many other Border teams in our area. Consequently we are now working on stick dances which don’t use a conventional three or four couple longways set, plus at least one dance from (or based on) each of the Cotswold, Molly and Sword traditions.

The team wears ragshirts for dance-outs in December and January. The rest of the year we wear green shirts with gold sash, black trousers & shoes, and garlands round our hair.
