The Buttercross Belles are from Otley in West Yorkshire. Established in 1992, the all women side has been dancing mainly in the North West Morris tradition in our home town and at events all over the UK and Europe ever since. The Belles dance in ‘suffragette colours’ – a white dress, with a distinctive green smock decorated with embroidery and purple ribbons, and a straw hat with flowers and ribbons to match. Rather than traditional clogs, dancers wear tap shoes.
