• Crank Dance Folk was established in 2024 as a Dartmoor-based, volunteer-led collective dedicated to folk music and dance.

We dance English, Celtic, and international traditions with contemporary influences, performing with a live band and encouraging a friendly, inclusive, and participatory atmosphere. We also incorporate maypole dancing into our gatherings.

Activities take place in a variety of settings including community venues, pub gardens, and at local events, with an emphasis on accessibility, creativity, and keeping folk traditions relevant.

Dancers of all ages and experience levels are welcome, whether attending regularly or joining for individual events.

Alongside our regular gatherings, we throw several fabulous fancy dress balls each year—so there’s always an excuse to dress up and dazzle!
